Policy Formulation for Promoting Utilization of Public Transportation Systems to Ease Traffic Congestion
| Client Name | Japan Institute of Construction Engineering |
| Country | Japan |
Description
The Okinawa Island Area has several problems concerning road traffic, such as chronic traffic congestion and lack of gradable road construction. However, it requires tremendous amounts of money and time to improve roads, so there is a need to promote conversion from private cars to public transportation by such means as public transportation priority policies and transport demand management. This project involved investigating policies for promoting utilization of public transportation systems to ease traffic congestion in the Okinawa Island Area.
