| Country | Bulgaria |
Description
It is estimated that the unemployment rate in rural Bulgaria is 25-30% and is the major cause of rural-urban migration in the country. Kazanlak is one of the regions that suffers from rural decline. One of the main goals of Kazanlak should be to strengthen the local economy and expand employment through tourism by taking advantage of already established images such as The Valley of Roses and the rose oil industry. The Kazanlak area should become a model area to increase regional development in Bulgaria. The objective of this project was to create or strengthen tourism related institutions and tourism human resources, as well as to enhance the natural and cultural attractiveness of the region and stimulate the local tourism industry.
