Capacity Development of Learning Resource Centers for Science Education Utilizing ICT
| Client Name | Japan International Cooperation Agency |
| Country | Jordan |
Description
Current surveys in Jordan show that there has been a significant shortage of qualified teachers due to the souring of child population in the nation. In the 80s, the MoE established Learning Resource Centres (LRC) in each district and Queen Rania Centre (QRC) in the capital as the centres to provide in-service teacher training in an effort to introduce more effective teaching methods utilizing ICT. However, they have not yet been fully functional due to insufficient capacity of their staff as well as equipments. The purpose of this project was to enhance the institutional capacity of QRC and LRC to function as training centres for science teachers, particularly focusing on ICT and science education development. Also, the development of ICT tools was another major purpose of the project, which includes digital training / lab manual, web-based questionnaire and learning management system.
