Description
The State of Sikkim is located in the Eastern Himalayas and has rich biodiversity and tourism potential. The Department of Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management (DFEWM) of the Government of Sikkim launched a ten-year initiative in collaboration with JICA through the Sikkim Biodiversity Conservation and Forest Management to strengthen the management of natural resources and alleviate poverty in Sikkim through participatory rehabilitation and management of degraded forests and enhancement of the livelihood of the local people by promoting ecotourism.
