Master Plan for the Development of the Port Sector in Burundi
| Client Name | Japan International Cooperation Agency |
| Country | Burundi |
Description
High transport costs impede the development of landlocked countries in Africa. Burundi, a country with relatively few natural resources, has been recording slow economic growth in recent years. The port master plan is intended to promote maritime transport on Lake Tanganyika and contribute to the country's economic development and the alleviation of poverty. The master plan will cover the mid-to-long term development of Bujumbura Port and select urgently needed projects, for possible Japanese official development assistance, technically and financially.
