Principal objectives of the study were to design the most cost-effective guiding system and plan pilot projects for two major commercial centers.
PADECO provided consultancy services to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for project design and planning. The Study has five components:
1. Comparative analysis of the conventional systems in Japan and overseas to identify areas for improvement and changes;
2. Review current IT and traffic control technologies and investigate their applicability for the system;
3. Design a basic system that is the most cost effective and sustainable based on the above analyses;
4. Plan pilot projects for two major commercial centers after in-depth research on current traffic and parking situations; and
5. Complete the study with recommendations on project implementation and monitoring.
